Pinterest accounts for brands, Facebook sharing goes mobile and the ability to email your tweets… Tons of news on the social media channel front this week. Missed it? We’ve got you covered. Here are the highlights:

Pinterest

  • Business Accounts: Pinterest made the dreams of hundreds of brand marketers come true with their announcement about new business accounts. Changes include an updated terms of service, the ability to name pages after businesses instead of first/last name format and additional resources to help marketers use the tool. The user experience should remain the same for the time being as changes aren’t immediately visible to the average consumer.

Facebook

  • Sharing Finally Goes Mobile: Frustration with Facebook mobile sharing, or previously lack thereof, should decrease slightly this week after the company announced their mobile site would now include the popular feature. No exact news on when the functionality will become available on the app, but sources such as Inside Facebook said it should be coming to Android and iOS soon.
  • Pages-Only Feed: In reaction to brand frustration with the limited reach of their page posts, Facebook has rolled out a “Pages Only” News Feed. While this is expected help with the number of eyes a brand’s posts reach (in theory anyways), if a fan likes many pages, it still doesn’t guarantee all posts will be seen in this new feed. For more info, check out this article in AdWeek.
  • ‘Facebook Gifts’ Options Expand: Just in time for the holidays, Facebook announced a new partnerships for their gifting option, including Gap, Brookstone, Proflowers and others. An obvious attempt to encourage transactions through the platform, Facebook Gifts was also recently made available through iOS and Android operating systems.

 Twitter

  •  Email a Tweet: Twitter plans on rolling out the ability to email tweets directly from their website. This means you can share information of 140 characters or less with folks who aren’t currently Twitter users. Is this another step in making the platform a source for news information? Only time will tell.
